Foundational Projects
The following projects represent William Pan's initial foray into design during his first year of study in architecture school. These proto-architectural designs prioritize creativity over logic or architectural codes, serving as precursors to his later, more formally trained architectural and interior design work. While they may not fully reflect Pan's current style and abilities, they offer insight into the origins of his artistic vision and innovative ideas.
Project I: Reflection & Movement
experimentation of light & forms

William Pan's first-ever architectural endeavor takes inspiration from an unlikely source: a crushed Coca-Cola can. The centerpiece of his creation, mirroring the distinctive contours and apertures of the can, is elevated through exaggerated forms. Building upon the exaggerated triangular shapes, Pan extends his vision to encompass the surrounding elements, crafting them in randomized configurations. Through a deliberate manipulation of material properties, including reflectivity and transparency, Pan orchestrates a play of light and mirroring, imbuing the space with a nuanced array of experiences.

Project II: Urban Island
study of plants, water, and human interraction

The Urban Island is designed as a hospitality facility for the urban residents to take a deep breath in the stressful city centers. Functioning as a miniature park atop concrete structures, it seamlessly integrates into the urban environment. Inspired by the concept of a "vessel," capable of containing both water and plants, the Urban Island is modular in design. Some vessels serve as pools while others host vibrant greenery. Carefully calibrated to accommodate the trees, flower bushes, and water alike, this design fosters meaningful human interaction within a verdant urban oasis.
